Potato chips. Covered in chocolate. Do I really need to say anything else??
Chocolate Potato Chips
What I use:
- Potato chips
- 1/2 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 tsp. vegetable shortening
How I do it:
1. Lay your potato chips out on a cooling rack on top of a baking sheet lined with waxed paper. (Or you can skip the cooling rack and just set up right on the waxed paper.)
2. Put the chocolate chips and shortening in a small bowl.
3. Heat the chocolate in the microwave for 1 minute. Stir until smooth. If needed, heat for 15 more seconds.
4. Scoop the melted chocolate into a small pastry bag or a sandwich baggie. Twist the top down to the chocolate.
5. Snip off a tiny corner of the bag. Working in a back and forth motion across the entire pan, squeeze the chocolate onto the chips. Keep going until the chips are done in that direction.
6. Now turn the pan and go in the opposite direction.
7. Let the chocolate set in a cool, dry place. If you are impatient like me, you could put the tray in the fridge or freezer to speed this up, but know that the chocolate will actually soften back up if you don't eat them fast enough. (This was so not a problem in this house.)
This chocolate drizzle is versatile and can be used on anything - cookies, biscotti, pretzels, apple slices, bananas - I can't think of anything that isn't better with some chocolate on it.
